Project Origin
The Miao people are an ancient and culturally rich ethnic group with a unique language, clothing, architecture, music, dance, and traditional crafts. However, rapid modernization and urbanization have placed many of these traditions at risk of disappearing.
We are a group of photography enthusiasts, scholars, researchers, and Miao community members passionate about preserving Miao culture. Through years of fieldwork and cultural documentation, we have come to recognize the urgent need and importance of building a systematic image database.
The Miao Ethnic Group Image Database has launched. We aim to bring together efforts from all sectors of society to jointly document, preserve, and pass on this precious cultural heritage, ensuring future generations can understand and honor their cultural roots.
